A passion for writing

Dustin Godfrey (they/them)
For as long as I can recall, I’ve loved writing. For years, I’ve been lucky enough to pursue that passion for a living. I’ve written for breaking news-oriented websites, community news outlets, radio stations and newsletters. Through that work, I’ve broken news stories with strong and fast reporting, and I’ve also made waves with well-researched pieces. But I wouldn’t be the writer I am today without having explored the world of feature writing. Capturing emotions and experiences that are hard to put into words and laying them out for the public to read and understand. That’s where I draw my inspiration and where I shine as a writer.
I’ve written on all varieties of topics, from wonky council meetings and dense court hearings to thoughtful features on homelessness to profiles of people and businesses.

Since entering the journalism field, I’ve also developed a passion for photography. I’ve loved snapping photos of events I’ve attended or people I’ve profiled for stories, but also wandering around town and capturing my surroundings in my lens. (Of course, my hard drive is also filled with photos I couldn’t help but take of my best friend, my cat.)
